A Russian developer helped an employee bring fort a prosthetic fortify aside turn him into an in-game DLC character.

That developer would be Pixonic, and the employee would be Andrey Kvasov (thanks, VGC). In November 2019, Kvasov was involved in a fomite accident, where he would remnant astir losing an arm, a finger on the other hand, and an spike. Despite all this however, Kvasov returned to work at developer Pixonic merely four months later in the same IT support role.

Information technology's now been revealed that when he returned to wreak, Pixonic asked Kvasov if he wanted to cost featured in their late game, War Robots, according to a blog Emily Post along Russian site Pikabu written aside Kvasov. When developers approached Kvasov and asked if he yearned-for to be featured as himself an in-game Archetype character in War Robots, Kvasov "didn't even reckon refusing," as helium'd "dreamed of becoming a character in a video game" since he was a child.

Just a few months later in Summertime 2021, a DLC character dedicated to Andrey Kvasov was added to State of war Robots. Although the DLC character verbal description omitted inside information of Andrey's accident, the character themselves featured a medicine arm, and  their in-game story described someone who was heroically able to return to work later having their somatogenetic abilities altered.

Crucially though, Kvasov's DLC fictitious character was restricted to the fight pass for War Robots, meaning players would have got to pay to unlock access. Proceeds from these purchases went towards a prosthetic arm for Kvasov, which the development squad at Pixonic kept closed book from the developer, solitary revealing this to him subsequently a "certain total" had amassed.

"This came as a complete and nice surprisal to ME. The players also set up verboten that the story was real, after the fact," writes Kvasov of the experience. "Each pilot owner received a free buff and a notification that the money invested with therein activenes went towards buying a prosthesis for a real somebody. The players were identical welcoming of the news and I conventional a lot of kind quarrel."

When Kvasov accepted his real-life prosthetic arm from the funds raised, his in-game type was also clad with a prosthetic arm, to reflect the change. Kvasov rounds out his blog post on Pikabu away thanking everyone, written material that although "it's cheesy," it's "the sort of thing that you only learn to appreciate when you lose it."
